I'm not much of a one for playing games, despite my proud boast that my best friend from school invented one of the best-selling games of all time, Jenga.   And I was her accountant at the time.

I did manage to invent lots of games for my niece and nephews to play on Christmas Day over the years and I pride myself on the fact that the games aged with them, i.e. didn't stay too babyish although perhaps some of them were a tad too testing at times, like when I first became a coach!

I always hated Monopoly and am still somewhat shocked at how unpleasantly competitive I become in Trivial Pursuit.   You should have seen me on Xmas Day this year!   Shaming.

So it comes as a bit of a shock to find a game I not only like but which is better played collaboratively rather than to win.

And what's that game, Judith?

Ladies Who Lunch: How Abundant is Maria Davies?

You just plod along, don't you.   Minding your own business, taking care of business, helping people, collecting in the money, nose to the grindstone, laughing, crying, coping, managing, intending, visualising, counting your blessings, feeding the cat, sorting out the drains, zapping tolerations, helping people, allowing help, getting folks out of bad debt and into good, worrying about family and being the best you can be, whilst fighting the demons, battling the traffic and the traffic wardens.   Such is daily life.

And then, extraordinarily, out of the blue, something wonderful happens and all the more delightful for being totally unexpected.

Pension into Caribbean Property - or vice versa?

Use your pension to buy a Caribbean property (via a SIPP) or use the Caribbean Property investment opportunity to create a pension, it works both ways.

I'm still as excited as ever I was by the opportunities to acquire property in the Caribbean, off plan, for just £1,000 down.   The whole thing can be 100% funded for you, no money down (apart from that £1k).

Previously we thought you would need to be able to raise finance, even though Harlequin would bear the costs of that borrowing for you, of 30% of your spend.   Until we discovered that if you had a mouldering and unloved pension lurking somewhere you might be able to use that instead.

Then we got excited about the possibility of taking control of our pension funds, putting them into a SIPP and buying Caribbean properties with them.   Hence using your SIPP to buy in St Lucia, St Vincent, Barbados or the Dominican Republic.

The reverse is also true.   If you don't have a pension (and not many of us self-employed folks do)...

I have always wanted a life in the sun, so when one of our own ex-clients on the 2007 Money Gym Gold Express programme contacted me earlier in the year, I couldn’t wait to hear about the opportunity she presented.

At the time, I had challenges of my own – I was right in the middle of moving house in the same week as Janet Swift took me to a 3-day Alan Forrest Smith and then I hurtled up to Manchester to find out all about Cartel, about which more later.

And to be honest with you, and I don’t think Victoria would mind my sharing this with you, when she brought it around to me, she hadn’t got her own head round the offering yet and so I simply didn’t understand it either and with all that busyness on my hands, I just parked it – a bit further down the To Do List!   But I do remember calling Nicola and saying we must tell our clients about this.   Nicola said “no, not now, let’s wait until someone we know and trust has invested their own money in it first” or word to that effect.

But Money Gym clients are not fools and so Victoria hedged her bets and she also showed it to Marcus de Maria AND Maria Davies.   These days, Maria writes a regular column for A Place in the Sun magazine and so if Victoria could get get past Maria’s defences, that would be a great result.

As Maria tells the story, Victoria badgered and badgered and badgered until Maria caved in and looked at the details and followed up on the opportunity in a way which I simply had not had time for.

And what did she discover?   

Martha Beck Wants Me For A Shaman

I went to spend the day on Friday with wonderful Martha Beck.   For those of you who don't know her, she appears on Oprah as their life coach in residence and oddly was on Oprah on Friday when she was also live with me in St Ethelburga's Church in Bishopsgate.  Go figure.  Martha is awesome but I dont think even she has managed to be physically in two places at once yet!   The day was organised by the fabulous team at Alternatives and provided a lovely day out for a coach.

I was a little bit late by my own standards and my friend Jane had got me a seat in the front row.   Shock horror!   I am strictly a back row kind of a girl and began the day well outside my comfort zone.   The man in charge of the sound kept trying to take one seat out of the front row and I kept volunteering loudly for it to be me, but somehow that didnt happen.   Immediately, even before Martha arrived to stand all day on my toenails, I met two chums (in addition to Jane) and St Ethelburga's was wonderful.  A tiny church which was bombed by the IRA and has now been re-opened as a place of peace and reconciliation but with all the best bits of the church re-instated including a clock with a bell which clanged loudly on the hour, usually just when Martha had said something incredible, as if to add divine reinforcement from above.

The Elite Entrepreneurs Make Me Cry

During last week's Mastermind meeting of the Elite Entrepreneurs Club, I had to reach for the tissues not once, but twice!   One of my clients, with whom I have been working for a couple of years, came up with his best idea for his business yet.   An idea so stonking and so brave that I was in awe and the tears came quickly.   Another client managed to do the same thing to me, her achievements are awesome.   You both know who you are - thank you for making me cry, no really!

I wonder if anyone else other than a coach could know how precious it is to be present when your client emerges as an even better version of themselves?   More confident, more successful, more energised, more powerful.

One of the team even said to me "are we doing this next year?"   With results like that?   You betcha. I couldnt stop this work now if I wanted to.   Just to be present to the magnificence of my clients is a unique honour.   Not to mention the fun we had at the party the night before!

Time to Retreat and Think About... Work?

Steve Nobel is a very gifted coach and facilitator.   Many of you will know of his work at the very wonderful Alternatives in London.   Cor Blimey, I LOVE an evening at Alternatives and have lost count of the inspiring evenings I have sat in the pews soaking up the wisdom of the personal development giants.

Steve is no slouch himself when it comes to inspiring others.   He spoke to my Lonely Entrepreneurs group back towards the end of the last year, over-delivered and blew my socks off for starters.   I have enjoyed his Prosperity Circle and even a 1-2-1 session with him.   His colleagues David de Angelis and Damien Senn have teamed up with Steve and come up with the idea of a wonderul retreat in Spain in April.   Nice!
