Ten Hectic Days in the Life of a Serial Entrepreneur
I've been a busy little bee lately, rushing around. How does it happen that your life creeps up on you like that and suddenly its ten days full on? Poor diary management I hear you cry, and much though it pains me to admit it, I fear you may be right, Gentle Reader.
Here's what I have packed in during the last ten days:
Monday - podcasting Ann Ross on BlogTalkRadio and producing our weekly tapping script on TapToTheTop. Malek returned to fit the curtains and blinds which are toptastic, a DebtBusting call, an EEC client, a referral from coach George who I referred onwards to coach Heather, hired a car for the week from Enterprise and went to an Ecademy networking evening at the Tower Hotel, my first despite having been a member for YONKS and living almost next door for YEARS! What are we like? Didn't do much networking, enjoyed chums Sarah and Carolyn and the speaker Phil Calvert.
Tuesday - lunch outside in the really hot sunshine in Wimbledon then whiz up to London to meet a coaching colleague at my new, favourite central London meeting place, The Brunswick, juice al fresco. Rush back home to study teleclass with Sandra about Squidoo and Linkedin, keen as I am to get deeper into social networking online. Sandra sends me a copy of her new ebook asking for a testimonial by Thursday and when it arrives it has over 100 pages of closely typed script about Wordpress. I print it off and put it aside to take with me on my travels on Wednesday.
Wednesday begins as it always does with my cleaner, Beverley, at 10 a.m. and me dodging her hoover during The Money Gym weekly webinar, then me rushing off to meet a multi-millionaire for lunch at Jamie's Fifteen - my turn to pay! Whilst sitting outside in my car, I call a friend who has been abroad since selling her business last September. I call her on a hunch only to discover she's been back in the UK for less than 24 hours and was thinking of me only 30 seconds earlier, while reading a local magazine and gazing at a photo of me in an advert in it. Synchronicity at work there. After lunch I drive to Carlton House Terrace, where I park the car in the sunshine and meet my reading/testimonial challenge for Sandra before going to see the rather terrifying but adrenaline rush film about card counting in Las Vegas, called 21.
Thursday - I podcast Kate Bacon and manage to blog about it, I coach an Elite Entrepreneur, I meet an old colleague for lunch at the local Starbucks. It's Kate who I encouraged into property investing and she's had two babies and not gone back to work and is pretty much focusing on it full time now and wants to pick my brains about a particular deal and getting a good accountant who I source from another client in property. In the evening, Nicola and I attend a teleconference with a big player in the wealth creation field who wants to partner with The Money Gym. I am too tired to give it my full attention but I think they do manage to pique Nicola's interest. I begin Twittering, God help me.
Friday - hurtle up to London for the Money Gym's Women Talk Money day. Its a quarterly coaching meeting with seven amazing women who are in property and business. At our January meeting, we tasked one of the delegates with making £4m in property during 2008. She had already made £2.3m in three months, so we doubled her target! That evening I brought Nicola to look at my new Streatham pad and to get her out of the hotel. We sat quietly with our laptops downloading and working through a day's worth of emails while she got to know the cat.
Saturday - another Money Gym gig, Let's Talk Money - our most successful yet and a thoroughly exciting and fun day. Let's Talk Money and so we did. Nicola's 5 p.m. train came and she went and I sat on talking money with the stragglers until at 6.30 I had to literally throw them out otherwise I was going to miss The Nancies. If you don't mind having to like or lump it, it's a fine life. Word perfect, me. I was in that musical at school and can still remember all the songs. But I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday or even if I had lunch yesterday.
Sunday was my 53rd birthday - nice cake, nice flowers, nice cards, nice pressies, nice lunch - and food poisoning, yuk. So I took to my bed on my own birthday for a couple of hours in the afternoon and felt right grim, I won't go into the details.
Monday off, technically to recuperate from the two days conferencing at the end of last week which strayed onto the weekend, but really it began with a couple of hours of Extreme Self-Care which you simply don't get time to do in a week like that. Change the sheets, get the laundry on, I had a long list including two separate supermarket visits for a week's victuals because I was due to take the car back in the afternoon. Managed lunch out at Streatham's Perfect Blend, second and subsequent visits have been a tad disappointing, except for the burgers and the Cardio Angel smoothies. Cat admin. Gardening - Janet, you will be pleased to hear your honeysuckle is now in a pot with a trellis to climb up, daren't tell you what your downshifting house-warming gift cost me, LOL!
Today - Amber phoned me from Kentucky USA to say that she too was a coach with a cleaning business and what a coincidence and that female serial entrepreneurs were as rare as the proverbial rocking-horse s**t over there and she just wanted to draw some sustenance from another such, and so we chewed the fat for a while. Nice.
Ann forgot I was supposed to be podcasting her but Sarah Rourke, the Audio Pod Artist, rocked up in person to podcast me for her new project, HearCoachHireCoach. Always a joy to see Sarah and I think when she is ready to go live with the audio you will see that she is right... although more time-consuming, to be recorded live with a good quality mike gives a far better sound quality and result all round, especially for a perfectionist! I have heard her finished product and jolly nice it is too and I will share it here as soon as she gives me permission.
I coached a lovely client... not so much time for that as I might like this week. I made a bog of podcasting Tom and we re-schedule for Thursday - a software glitch I like to think! He was cool about it. And Pete came to measure up for some home improvements, including my plastic shed about which more earlier. Tried and failed to reach Petra for some advice about landscaping, wanted to speak to friend with access to the rock & roll gardener, Nick, but there was no time. Provided a listening ear for some chums with unexpected cashflow difficulties and rounded off the evening with a DebtBusting call.
Tried to sort out some problems for my tenant, Ethel, in Nunhead and heard from Perky Pete that the flat underneath Ethel's may be up for sale and would I be interested. WOULD I BE INTERESTED? You betcha! Could rent that Nunhead pad ten times over. Yip. No idea how this is going to pan out but I can feel the Universe move. Tap, tap, tap.
Chivvied up some Cleaning Biz pod-holders about RSVP to our summer party only ten days away and talked with my partner, Emma, about their failure to report on time. Paid the mentors their commission.
At some point in all of this madness in the last week my new Cartel DebtBusting site went live at ClaimWithJudith and the phone has just been RINGING OFF THE HOOK with people who want a solution for their debts. Quelle surprise, not.
And tomorrow my new car comes (wait in from 9-5, grr) and its the cleaner, MG webinar, four DebtBusting calls, podcasting two Lonely Entrepreneurs and then out to supper with Karen who bought and developed the travel agency I started.
No two days the same. That's just one of the joys of entrepreneurial life, the variety. Right now, I feel truly blessed because I am the luckiest girl alive. I'm lovin' it.
