Anne's Consciousness Shifting Speeds My House Move

I'm on the move.   Moving away from my beloved Canary Wharf.   For a while, at least.  Last September my landlord let me know he was putting my home on the market.  Bummer.   I have been through the whole range of emotions - anger, sadness, surprise that any landlord would sell any property, particularly one as lovely as mine.   Then I relaxed as people came to visit in dribs and drabs but no-one offered on what is, after all, a postage stamp with the best view in the whole of London priced at half a mill!

And then, in early December, there were three viewings in one day and one of them offered and was accepted and I was duly served my notice for February, so I popped out and bought myself a new home for my own Christmas present, a nice tidy little BTL in Streatham Hill where I would lay my head for a while.

Only it's never as simple as that, is it?

I filled out the mortgage forms and waited for everyone to come back to work on 7th January and by 8th January I had good news about my mortgage-ability but bad news about the flat - someone else had bought it, don't go there, circumstances too long and tedious and annoying to go into.   So, we started again on another flat in the same building, less ideal in many ways and more ideal in others, HUGE Doodad potential and a large garden just crying out for Alan, Charlie & Big Tommy.   Especially Big Tommy.   But Ground Force have laid their tools down for the last time, apparently.   Sad.

Why Streatham Hill, I hear you ask?   Again a long story, but I will try to offer you the salient points succinctly; listen very carefully I shall say this only once.  100 percent funding, none of my own money down, nicest one on the list, only habitable one.  And then the mortgage broker got me an offer within two weeks and then they phoned last week to say that I could move in this week if I wanted to.   THREE WEEKS from start to finish!   For Heaven's sake!  Imagine you WANTED to move to Streatham Hill, could it be done that quickly?   I think not.   But imagine all the pressure off, you might or you might not, you dont really care... and the deal whizzes through like greased lightning.   Well I never.

And here's what else helped... pin your ears back for a bit of Woo Woo.   I took advantage of a generous offer from a coaching colleague of mine called Anne Walsh.   She offered something called Consciousness Shifting, and you know me and a bit of woo woo, I'm right in there with my open mind. Anne explained what it was all about and we decided to work on the fact that I was leaving my home which I love in every way to go and live somewhere which seemed to have chosen me, somewhere which seemed sensible, somewhere which seemed like the right thing to do with my head, but not my heart necessarily.   How could she shift my consciousness in a way which would be helpful for the project and for me?

Anne got stuck in and within 30 minutes we had derived a positive intention around the whole thing "I trust my decision completely" and a supportive emotional statement too "I am excited and gleeful".  Well, it wasnt just my consciousness which was shifted.   The whole bloomin' Universe started to move with alacrity - brokers, lenders, agents, solicitors, vendors all fell into line in a way which seemed to support my somewhat bizarre intention to move to Streatham Hill.   And - get this... I got £20,000 off the asking price on valuation too!

Petra, a property investing colleague with two or three properties in the vicinity encouraged me with why she was investing there and local intelligence about the area.   I've been back around a couple of times both inside and out and I must say my personal jury is still out but I trust I am being guided to do the right thing.   Why, for instance, didn't I notice that whacking great council block on the end of the road at the point of falling in love with the garden flat?

The packing boxes have arrived, I've talked to www.IAmMoving.com about who is the cheapest supplier of electricity and gas, I've phoned the removal people, and do you know what - I'm going to Streatham Hill.

Of course, it's all gone pear-shaped here back at home.   The purchaser has pulled out in a scrap over the parking space and my landlord has offered me another year, but I think it's all gone too far now.  Owning my own home has been on my To Do List for quite long enough  and its long overdue that I return to the (residential) property owning classes.

Going back South of the River will be nothing short of just plain weird.   I lived only a mile or so away for over a decade and ran my businesses there for two decades and deliberately left in 1994 and came to live in Marylebone and Canary Wharf - back and forth, never seeming to be able to make up my mind which I preferred.   A handful of old friends and ex-clients still live within 500 metres of the new flat, and frankly I left most of them behind for a good reason.   Will I now find myself bumping into them at the Tesco Express?    There's no Waitrose in Streatham yet, Beloved!   I'm a go forward kind of a chick, and this smacks of going back, something my very first boss taught me never to do when I was 17.   So there you have it in a nutshell.   Ambivalence.

But now it seems the decision is being made for me thanks to The Universe and Anne Walsh.

I am somewhat excited but I dont quite know about gleeful yet, there's far too much admin between me and that place.   I've been so comfy here I've got out of the habit of moving, I forget what's involved though I have found a few useful checklists online.
