    My Daily Gratitude Journal

Sunset_over_london_2nd_august_2007 One of the very best daily habits to have stuck with me since the EFT weekend in June is my daily gratitude journal. Marion and I gaily set off to record nightly about 5 things we were grateful for.   Then Janet Swift pointed out she was recording her 10 daily blesssings and Marion and I thought we weren't being quite grateful enough and stepped up the length of our lists to match Janet's!   I'm not sure I have found the time to tell them both this yet but the more grateful I am, the more things come into my life to be grateful for and I now find I easily soar past 20 on my bedtime gratitude list.   Howzat?

And Marion and Janet will not be surprised because that's how this stuff works.

A bit like that list in my earlier posting about The Ultimate Gift, I am noticing increasingly that however many wonderful and bountiful gifts appear in my life and get recorded on my list at night-time, they all come down to a few core needs:

    • The people I love - my family, my friends, colleagues I work with, clients and those who inspire me
    • Appreciating the beauty and bounty of the planet on which we live
    • The luxury, sanctuary and efficiency afforded by my home - just look at that photo above, sunset taken from my living room on 2nd August.   I never tire of that view which changes every minute of every day, better than telly!
    • Fun and laughter - both essentials for a long, healthy and happy life
    • Creating ideas for my businesses and my unstoppable entrepreneurial spirit
    • My God-given great health and opportunities for extreme self care, the pleasures of the 5 senses
    • The reassuring normality of every day, one day at a time
    • The things I love to do
    • Peace
    • The healing power of relaxation, meditation, thoughtful reflection and sleep
    • Simple everyday pleasures like a pencil and a notebook and taking time to notice and enjoy them
    • Reading and writing
    • Time - there is always enough

I was discussing this with Jane Puckett when she came to dinner on that evening in the photo above and she pointed out that what Ann had taught us - daily scripting, affirmations, tapping and the gratitude journal - amounts to a spiritual practice and I am aware I have been searching for one of those which could be meaningful and do-able for me for some time.   I am delighted that EFT and Ann Ross have brought that into my life, just another thing to be grateful for, like Jane Puckett - see how this works?

Anyway, if I were you, I'd stop reading here, because I am going to go on (below the line) to list 1001 things for which I am grateful.   I offer this up as a personal prayer, it is a veritable orgy of gratitude, a gratitude fest if you will and it's a personal indulgence in no particular order or importance, more something I want to record than share necessarily.   Many of these appear in my journal over and over again during the period 11th June to 4th August.   What are you grateful for?
